Travel

The Seattle area airport is SeaTac located about 20 miles south of Seattle. All major US carriers fly into SeaTac. There are also direct flights from London, Copenhagen, and Tokyo.

All major Car Hire companies are represented at the airport. There is an Airport Shuttle Service that provides a reasonably priced service from the airport to all the area hotels.

Restaurants

Here are some of the restaurants within easy walking distance of the Residence Inn

Cucina Cucina - Pasta/Pizza - definitely more Californian than Tuscan

Claim Jumper - Steaks/Chops - huge portions

Il Bacio - A personal favorite - real Italian food without a pizza in sight

Thai Ginger - Average Thai food in a better than average environment

Six Degrees - An American Bistro

What to do in Seattle

For general Seattle area information see http://seattle.citysearch.com/

No visit to Seattle is complete without a trip to the Space Needle - just make sure you pick a sunny day.

While you are in the area you should visit the Experience Music Project - love it or hate you cannot ignore this Rock Music "Museum".

Seattle Opera are playing Rusalka by Antonin Dvorak - this is the original Little Mermaid Story.

On State Route 202 about 10-15 minutes drive from the Residence Inn is "Alcohol Corner" - this is the home of Chateau Ste. Michelle, Columbia Winery, and a Redhook Brewery.

One word of warning - trying to get from the Eastside (where Microsoft is located) into downtown Seattle on a weekday evening can be difficult. If you do decided to go in to Seattle try to carpool and also, if possible, leave after 6:30pm. This site lets you track the traffic conditions on the bridges - Redmond is located at the eastern end of 520.

There is also an weekday express bus service from the Redmond to Seattle - STExpress. The terminus in Redmond is not too far from the Residence Inn and the route goes through the Microsoft Campus.
